ESEC New Social Event Venue!

ROUGEMONT HOTEL

Our next ESEC FREE social event will be held at the Rougemont Hotel in Exeter on the 16th November at 10.30am.

This is a free ( fully subsidised) event, with an opportunity afterwards to explore and browse the Exeter Christmas Market on Cathedral Green, which is just a short walk from the hotel.

If you would like to attend this event, please advise Committee Members Martin or Wendy Mitten (contact details included in the October Newsletter) by Sunday 8th November at the latest, in order for them to notify the hotel of catering numbers.

As summer begins its slide into Autumn, we look forward to welcoming ESEC members to our next FREE Cream Tea event, to be held at the EXE VALLEY FARM SHOP, THORVERTON EX5 5LZ on Thursday 24th September, 2.30pm for 3pm in the Ruby Red Cafe.

This is always a nice opportunity for members to enjoy some delicious jam and cream scones together with a nice cuppa, while catching up with news amongst friends and colleagues. There is also an opportunity to browse the farm shop with its crafts and gifts.

MANOR PAVILION THEATRE

SIDMOUTH

THURSDAY 27th AUGUST 2026 – 8pm

With our successful July coffee morning at Powderham well attended , we turn our social events diary to August 27th 2026, for our summer theatre trip to the Manor Pavilion in Sidmouth to see the comedy play ‘OUTSIDE EDGE’ written by Richard Harris.

Set in a cricket pavilion, the play is about a village cricket team trying to win a game of cricket whilst sorting out their various marital problems! An afternoon’s cricket turns into utter chaos.

Tickets for this event (subsidised) will be priced at £12 for ESEC members. Booking forms for this event have now been issued with the Club’s July Newsletter. Please complete and return your booking form to Committee member Peter Johnson (address on form) or by email if preferred, as soon as possible, but no later than MONDAY 3rd AUGUST to secure your seats!

A reminder to all ESEC members of our next social event, a FREE coffee and cake morning to be held at The Bistro at Powderham Farm Shop, Powderham Estate, Kenton EX6 8JQ on Wednesday 8th July at 10.30am.

Members are requested to notify Committee Members Peter and Barbara Johnson if attending, by MONDAY 22nd JUNE in order to advise the Bistro caterers of numbers.

ESEC – SPRING LUNCH

Booking forms, together with menu choices have now been sent out with the Club’s April Newsletter for our popular spring lunch event to be held at the Belmont Hotel in Sidmouth on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 at 1pm.

This is a subsidised three course lunch, served with a glass of wine or a soft drink, followed by coffee or tea.

Club members are requested to return completed booking forms with menu choices and payment to Barbara and Peter Johnson (Address on booking form) no later than the 16th MAY 2026.

Please note that car parking at this hotel is restricted. Please use public car parks nearby.
